Notes for Warren Ridge YARNALL
Warren Ridge Yarnall, 84, formerly of Kennett Square, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at his home in Section, Ala., with his wife and two daughters at his side.
Warren was born Feb. 7, 1926, in West Grove, the youngest child of William Martin and Miriam Ridge Yarnall of Chester County.
He lived and worked his entire life in Kennett Square until his retirement. He moved to Section, Ala., in 2001, a small town on Sand Mountain in Jackson County, overlooking the Tennessee River.
Warren was attending the Kennett Consolidated High School (class of 1944) when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for the duration of World War II. He was an air crewman trained as an aviation radioman second class and naval air gunner for the PB4Y1 bomber.
During his life he worked as a contractor, township assessor, electrician and in the mushroom industry.
He was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) through the late 1950s and 1960s, serving as vice president and then president in 1961. He was the first area Jaycee to receive the "Key Man Award" for outstanding work.
He was also a member of the Lions Club and a life member of the Kennett Grange #19.
Warren is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Teckla Blocksom Yarnall; his daughters, Karen Y. Pannell (husband Terry J. Sauerbrey) and Teckla D. Logan, both of Section, Ala.; his sons, Warren Jr. of Arizona, David A. (wife Connie) of Avondale, William M. (wife Karen) of Oxford, Howard B. (wife Rosalind) of Cochranville and Richard C. (wife Piper) of Lawrenceville, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Margaret Y. Martinez of Wilmington, Del.
He was predeceased by his brother, William M. Yarnall, of Minquadale, Wilmington, Del.
