Notes for Philip Jr. PRICE
Philip Price Jr., 81, of New Holland and formerly of West Chester, died Friday, October 12, 2018, at Garden Spot Village. Philip was the husband of Mary Muir Price, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage and Judith E. Price with whom he shared three years of marriage. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Philip Price Sr. and Emma Strode Price. After graduating in 1955 from The Lawrenceville School in NJ, he attended and graduated from Bucknell University. Philip became a partner in ownership of the family business, Strode’s Sausage and Scrapple Company in West Chester. Philip was an active member of the Goshen Baptist Church in West Chester. In 1986, he moved to State College for 18 years before moving to Garden Spot Retirement Village 15 years ago. He was a faithful fan and supporter of his three children, thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Philip is survived by a son, Philip Price III, husband of Elayne Nelson of Geneva, IL; a daughter, Jean Marie, wife of David Stratton, of Smethport; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth, wife of Sean Ellsworth of West Chester; 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. followed by a reception on Friday, October 19, in the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557, with Pastor Timothy Witmer officiating. Interment will be private in the Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery.
