Notes for Joshua Pusey SMITH

Joshua had a grocery store in East Nottingham Township PA. He later became proprieter of the Indian Queen Hotel, on the N.E.Corner of 5th and Market St. Wilmington,DE. After 1870 Jane married George Walls (1818- ) a produce merchant. Joshuas' son-in-law, Isaac Pyle, became the proprieter of the Indian Queen Hotel. John W. and J. Pusey Smith were proprietors of the Ebbitt House at 1007 Market St. Wilmington, DE. in the 1880's, as indicated in the Wilmington City Directory of that period.
