Notes for Elizabeth Louise GALLOWAY
Elizabeth "Betty" Grohs, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016, at Dominion Village in Poquoson, VA. She was 83 years old.
Betty was born on November 7, 1932, in Unionville, PA, to the late John Paul and Eleanor Heald Galloway. She resided in Newark, DE for nearly 60 years and enjoyed the past year spending time in Virginia.
Betty met the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Grohs, while attending King's College in Delaware City, DE. They were married on April 14, 1954. Betty earned her Bachelor's degree in Bible and continued her education at the University of Delaware, obtaining her teaching certificate. She faithfully taught for over 35 years in the Christina School District.
Always a positive and cheerful person, Betty was loved by all. She was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether teaching in the classroom, or serving in the children's ministries of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, she always had a heart for children and they loved her in return.
Betty will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Richard Walter Grohs; son Rich Grohs, and his wife, Deb, of Poquoson, VA; daughters, Cheryl Warrington of Langhorne, PA and Linda Burke, and her husband, Don, of Langhorne, PA; six grandchildren, J.R. (Heidi), Kristin (Kevin), Josh (Mandie), Jake (Courtney), Ryan and Daniel; and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers John (Edna) Galloway and Ron (Janice) Galloway, and sister Barbara (Ed) Pietlock.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16, 2016, from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark, 308 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711. A memorial service will begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Head of Christiana Presbyterian Cemetery in Newark, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Betty's memory be made to the "National Parkinson Foundation" (www.parkinson.org ) or "Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark".
