Notes for John LAMBORN

John Lamborn, 63, of Royersford, formerly of Berwyn, died Friday morning, Feb. 20, 2009, at his at residence.
He was born in Norristown to the late Theodore C. and the late Mary Elizabeth (Stevenson) Lamborn Jr.
John was raised in Berwyn and resided the past 33 years in Royersford (Upper Providence Township).
He was a graduate of Conestoga High School, class of 1963, and attended the Rochester Institute of Technology.
John was a private in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving as a medic. He was the recipient of National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device, Expert Badge with Rifle Barend.
John owned and operated Lamborn Typo, Strafford, for 33 years until his retirement in 1994.
He volunteered in numerous ways throughout his communities of Berwyn and Royersford and was an active member the Berwyn Veterans Association. He was also a member of the Buglers Across America and took immense pride in bugling for veterans' funerals.
The love of his life were his two granddaughters, who he spent all the time he could with. Two of their favorite pastimes were hiking and camping.
John also enjoyed weekend hiking trips with his brother and their friends.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberley, wife of Albert Wolfram of Royersford; two granddaughters, Hannah and Hadlee; and his brother, Robert Lamborn of Kennett Square.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore C. Lamborn III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing Thursday, Feb. 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Bridge and Church streets, Spring City. An additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the Berwyn United Methodist Church, 140 Waterloo Ave., Berwyn with the Rev. Philip I. Poncée, pastor, officiating, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in Great Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2025 Swedesford Road, Malvern.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made in his name to the Music Department at the Kimberton Waldorf School, Attn: Mary Hirsch, P.O. Box 350, Kimberton, PA 19442.
