Notes for John J. III LAFFERTY

JOHN J. LAFFERTY, BUILDING SUPERINTENDENT, 79, John J. Lafferty, 79, of Upper Darby, a retired building superintendent, died Tuesday at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lafferty was superintendent of the Upper Darby Township Municipal Building for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Before that, he was a maintenance supervisor for the General Electric Co. and a pipefitter at Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. in Chester.
He was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Girard College there. He moved to Upper Darby 42 years ago.
Mr. Lafferty was a former member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Upper Darby.
He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Irma Pearce, Lafferty; three children, William E. Sharpless, Carolyn Torrens, and Joanne I. Lange; a sister, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Toppitzer's Funeral Service Inc., Garrett Road and Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill. Friends and relatives may call there after 10 a.m. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware County Memorial Hospital Dialysis Unit, 501 N. Lansdowne Ave., Drexel Hill, Pa. 19026.
