Notes for Joseph Thomas Jr. SHARPLESS
Joseph T. Sharpless, 69, of Ridley Park, a retired Gulf Oil Co. employee, died Monday at Riddle Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Sharpless, who was born in Philadelphia, lived in Ridley Park for 27 years.
Mr. Sharpless was a foreman in the boiler shop at Gulf Oil Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1981.
He was a 1937 graduate of Glen-Nor High School in Glenolden.
Mr. Sharpless was an avid golfer and had been a member of several bowling leagues. He also enjoyed traveling.
He was the husband of Virginia Brooks Sharpless, who died in 1985.
He is survived by a son, William; three daughters, Carolyn Torrens, Joanne Lange and Sandra Digan; and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral service was Thursday at the McCausland-Bathurst Funeral Home in Glenolden. Interment was in Arlington Cemetery.
