Notes for Hazel B. HOOPES
Hazel B. May, 91, of Wilmington, Del., a retired life insurance agent/supervisor, died Jan. 26 in Wilmington.
Born and reared in Marcus Hook, Mrs. May was a resident of Wilmington since 2003. Previously, she was a resident of North Wilmington, Del., and Bethel Township.
She was an agent and supervisor for Home Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1983.
Mrs. May was a lifelong member of Marcus Hook Baptist Church.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing clothes and in her earlier years, canned vegetables from her garden.
She was the widow of Bernard S. May who died in 1987, the mother of the late Susan Brennanman, the daughter of the late George B. and Lillian Jenkins Hoopes, and the sister of the late Vincent and Herman Hoopes, Louise Page and Helen Warner.
Survivors: Son, Bernard A. May of Fort Mill, S.C.; daughters, Carol A. Travilla of Chandler, Ariz., and Nancy May of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;; two great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday, Marcus Hook Baptist Church, 1345 Market St., Linwood.
Visitation: 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Burial: Lawn Croft Cemetery, Lower Chichester.
