James Starr, of Coothill was married....1705, to Rachel Laybourne, daughter of Joseph Laybourne, of Black Hadleigh, County Durham, England, deceased, and of Rachel, his wife, now of Ardnahue, county Carlow, Ireland. She was born...1686, at Ramestown. James was a farmer in County Cavan, whence he came to Pennsylvania in 1712, and settled in New Garden, Chester County. In 1714 he was chosen clerk of Newark Monthly Meeting and overseer of New Garden Meeting.....In 1731, he removed with his family to Charlestown Township, Chester County, and located at the present site of Phoenixville. His children were Mary, Joseph, John, James, Rachel, Moses, Samuel, and Susanna.
