Notes for Robert Cabeen Jr. LEA
LEA ROBERT C. JR., of Wye Mills, MD died at his home on Sunday, June 1, 2003. He was 89. Born November 21, 1913 in Chestnut Hill, PA, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Henrietta Wright Lea. Following his graduation from Episcopal Academy High School in Overbrook, PA in 1932, he attended Harvard College, where he was a member of the Gas House Club and the varsity lightweight crew. He received an AB degree in 1937. After attending the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he received an LLB degree in 1940, he worked for Lybrand-Ross brothers & Montgomery accounting firm in Phila. In 1941 he married the former Nancy Kellogg and they made their home in Wayne, PA. In 1942 Mr. Lea began a career with Hart-Childs law firm in Phila., where he remained until his retirement in 1975. That same year, he and his family moved to Talbot County, MD. A member of Old Wye Parish, Wye Mills, MD, he was also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Assn., the Philadelphia Club, The Adrossan Beagles of Radnor, PA, 1st City Troup of Phila., past President of the Mill-Dam Club of Wayne, PA, past President of the University Barge Club of Phila. and a life-long oarsman and sailor. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lea is survived by 2 sons, Robert C. Lea, III of Taneytown,MD and Brandy Lea of New Orleans, LA, one sister, Mrs. Peter S. Pain of Hobe Sound, FL and 4 grandchildren, Chris Lea, Jason Lea, Bobby Lea and Syd Lea. A brother, Sydney Lea is deceased. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at 11 A.M. at Old Wye Church, Wye Mills, MD. Burial will follow at Old Wye Cemetery.
