Notes for Anne GRAY
Anne Gray Cabeen Rigg, 82, a longtime resident of St. Davids and Radnor Township's first female commissioner, died of cancer Saturday at Paoli Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Rigg was born in Bellefonte, Pa., and had lived in the Wayne area for 35 years. She worked for many years at the E.H. Cabeen Insurance Agency in Wayne, which was owned by her first husband, Edmund Hamersly Cabeen. He died in 1981.
In 1972, Mrs. Rigg (then known as Anne Cabeen) was appointed to the Board of Commissioners of Radnor Township - the first woman to serve on the board and the first to serve in any position of authority in the township.
Mrs. Rigg was active with many local charities and community organizations and served in recent years on the board of the Wayne Senior Center.
Surviving are her husband, Robert W. Rigg Sr.; children Richard W. Bleecker, M. Lea Cabeen and Ellen B. Liversidge; a stepson, Robert W. Rigg Jr.; two stepdaughters, Carroll Rigg Herrmann and Judith Rigg Oaksmith; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Martins Episcopal Chruch, Glenmary and King of Prussia Roads, Radnor. The family will receive friends at the church immediately after the service. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia 19103.
