Notes for Marjorie Anna BARLOW
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Marjorie B. Bringhurst, age 81, peacefully passed away at home in the early morning hours of Oct. 4, 2007, after a long struggle with lymphoma cancer.
She was born in Bountiful, Utah, on Sept.6, 1926, to John Clyde and Joukje Zysling Barlow. She was the middle child in a family of nine, and according to her son, Paul, the prettiest of the four beautiful Barlow girls. She grew up on a fruit farm in Bountiful and was the fastest cherry picker in the family.
After graduating from Davis High as the valedictorian and with an academic scholarship, she attended both BYU and Utah State College majoring in Elementary Education.
She married Stanley Hanks McAffee on June 11, 1952, and adopted three children, Lee, Dennis and Louise. He died in 1966. She married Keith Dolby Bringhurst on Sept. 18, 1968, and acquired two step-children, Rich-ard and Laurie. At age 43, she gave birth to her only natural child, Paul Keith Bringhurst. That marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Keith passed away on June 27, 1975.
Marge worked for Mountain Bell for 25 years as a long-distance operator. She loved flowers and always maintained a beautiful garden. She was very talented and sang with the Sweet Adelines.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings. She especially loved teaching Primary. Her grandchildren and nieces and nephews adored her. She was a great cook and a fabulous mother!
She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, brothers, Dale, Cal, and Rex and sister, June B. Burton; sister-in-law, Ida W. Barlow and brother-in-law, Albert H. Stoler. She is survived by her children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two special daughters-in-law, Debbie and Marcia and a special son-in-law, Gary L. Price. Marge is also survived by sisters, Norma B. Orchard Jex (Russell), Virginia B. Stoler, and a sister-in-law, Brenda B. Barlow; brothers, J. Paul Barlow (Carla), Gary D. Barlow (Dorothy) and a brother-in-law, Marshall T. Burton (Ruth).
The family invites all those who knew Marjorie to join in honoring her at a gathering at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bntfl. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, between 6-8 pm. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Val Verda 4th Ward, 2633 S. 50 West, Bountiful. Beginning at 9:45 a.m. friends and family may visit there prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
