Notes for J. Frank BRINGHURST
J. Frank Bringhurst has returned home after a long and enjoyable life. He was born on January, 8th, 1916 at his parents home in Springville, Utah, the third of ten children to William and Bella Bringhurst. He grew up in Springville where he enjoyed working, playing and hunting with his family and friends. He went to Logan to attend the Utah State Agricultural College (now USU) where he met Relda Gardner. He earned a degree in Wildlife Management with a minor in Drafting. They were married November 16, 1940 in Washington, D.C. where he had gone to work for the US Geologic Survey. They moved back to Utah after their daughter Karen was born and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple January 5th, 1942. They lived in Washington Terrace, Layton, and St. George. They moved to Mt. Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden in 2005 so they could be closer to their children.
Frank loved to hunt and fish with his brothers and family, golf with his wife, coach, garden, build, and just be with family. Family reunions were a regular part of his life and all the family cherished memories of gathering with aunts, uncles and cousins. On hunting trips, he and his brothers were famous for playing cards as fervently as they hunted game. He trained award-winning hunting dogs and loved to spend time with them in the fields in West Layton. After retirement Frank and Relda spent 25 years in St. George where they loved to golf, garden, hike and discover new scenery. Frank just loved being outdoors. Over his life he served faithfully in many church callings, even serving in a branch presidency in his 80's.
Frank is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, currently residing in the Peach Tree Alzheimers Care facility, his six children, Karen (John) Bohman of Danville, CA, John (Jeanne) of Petersburg, AK, Todd (Sonia) of Pullman, WA, Ron (Patty) of Phoenix, AZ, Kaylynn (Bill) Posell of Layton, and Mark (Cindy) of West Point, 20 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
