Notes for William Justus Jr. STRAWBRIDGE

WILLIAM JUSTICE STRAWBRIDGE, 83, a sportsman and farmer, died Tuesday at his residence in Jupiter Island, Fla. He was a former resident of Haverford.
Mr. Strawbridge was born in Germantown and attended St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H. He graduated from Harvard University in 1935.
During World War II, he served as a lieutenant commander in the Navy.
Mr. Strawbridge was co-manager of the Intrepid syndicate. The Intrepid, a 12-meter yacht, won the America's Cup in 1967 and 1970.
He was the grandson of Justus Strawbridge, one of the founders of Strawbridge & Clothier department stores.
Survivors: his wife, Marjorie Flagg Strawbridge; sons, William J. Jr., Richard V. and Norris; stepsons, John Finch and Francis F.S. Powers; five grandchildren; and one half brother.
