Notes for George Martin Jr. TRIMBLE

George Martin Trimble 2/2/1913 - 9/19/2006 PHOTO George Martin Trimble, longtime resident of Auburn, died in his daughter Susan's arms in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania on September 19, 2006. George was a Clipper Pioneer, a Pan American flight engineer on the China Clipper flying boats in the Pacific, and later on Pan Am 707 and 747 aircraft until his retirement. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on February 2, 1913, but lived most of his life on the West Coast. George married Susan's mother Jean Ann Rife in 1940, and lived in Orinda until her death in 1964. He married Helen Sully Best in 1965 and lived in Auburn until her death in 1997. He loved the mountains and the desert and spent his summers in Kingvale, Calif., with Jean and later with Helen. He was an outdoorsman and knew most of the native plants and animals by name, explored remote desert areas of California and Nevada, and of course his beloved Sierra Nevada. George is survived by his wife Maryanna, Susan and Bob Silvey, Robert Silvey, Geoff and Cheryl Best, Amy and Mike McEvoy. George was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be missed.
