Notes for Sarah Adeline HAMMOND

Adeline Hammond Hadley, on June 14, at Richmond IN, in her ninetieth year. The daughter of Hiram and Anna Foglesong hammond, she was born near Le Grand IA. She attended Penn College two years. On September 1, 1884, she married Stephen Marshall Hadley. They lived one year at Friendsville, TN and one year at Le Grand, after which they moved to Oskaloosa IA where Stephen Hadley taught in Penn College for forty-four years. During those years she was active in the live of the college and of Oskaloosa Meeting. Upon retirement they moved to Whittier CA where Stephen Hadley died November 5, 1931. In 1936, she moved to Richmond IN where has since made her home, latterly at the Lauramoore Home. She was a member of West richmond Meeting. Surviving are two children, ross Albert Hadley of Battle Creek Michigan, and Jeanette Hadley Purdy of Hartford Connecticut; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on June 17 in Richmond IN. R Furnas Trueblood and William E Berry were in charge.
