Notes for John Livingston II HADLEY
John, like his father, was a doctor. He received his college training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and afterwards graduated from the Medical school of the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the Confederate armies until captured and released on parole. Thereafter he returned to Hadley's Bend district and took up the practice of his profession. His home, known as Gretna Green, is said to have equaled that of "Vaucluse" in splendor but on a slightly smaller scale. It was demolished and the area converted to farm land about 1948.
The following is an exact copy of an original paper last known to be in the possession of Mrs. Annie Hadley.
