Notes for Davis Beaumont OAT
Davis Beaumont Oat, 68, business administrator at the University of Pennsylvania's laboratory for research of structural matter, died yesterday at Chester County Hospital. He had lived in West Chester.
Mr. Oat, a lifelong resident of West Chester, was affiliated with the former Wind Turbine Co. of West Chester as sales manager for its Trylon Towers.
He later worked in the sales department of D.S. Kennedy Co. in Boston, before joining Penn.
Mr. Oat was a charter member and a past president of the Chester County Council on Addictive Diseases (COAD) and a member of the Alcoholism Recovery Center at the South Chester County Medical Center. Last year, COAD named him the first recipient of its annual founder's award for dedicated service to the community.
Mr. Oat also was a charter member of Penn's Association of Business Administrators.
He belonged to the Church of the Holy Trinity in West Chester.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. Mr. Oat was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy and Yale University.
He is survived by a son, Charles F., and a sister, Elizabeth Oat Rockwell.
A memorial service is to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Trinity, West Chester. Interment is to be private.
