Daily Local News, West Chester, Chester County, Pa.
December 12, 1917

After a lingering illness, Harlan Doane, the oldest resident of Hamorton, passed away at 1:30 on the morning of the twelfth-mo. 11th, 1917, in his 87th year. He is the last of three children of the late Elwood and Phebe Harlan Doane. One brother, Elwood Doane, died in California last summer and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Doane Steele, of West Chester, died a few weeks ago. The greater part of his life was spent in Hamorton, and he was much respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by his widow, Hanna Kipe Doane, and two nieces and two nephews; Mrs. Darlington Beebe, of West Chester; Mrs. Emma Jackson, Claymont, Del.; Samuel Steele. Elsmere, Del.; Frank Steele, Philadelphia.

He was by occupation a plasterer and in religion a Friend.

In the old days when buildings were erected in East Marlborough Kennett township and vicinity it was frequently noticed that the inside work was done by Mr. Doane, Ellis Harlan and Norris Wilson, all three working together in harmony for many years. Now the last of the trio has departed.
