He received an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1891. He was a fellow of the College of Physicians, member of the Philadelphia County Medical Society, Academy of Natural Sciences, American Ophthalmological Society, Gottingen Society, etc; resident physician, German Hospital, 1891-2; assistant ophthalmologist, German Hospital; dispensary ophthalmic surgeon, Presbyterian Hospital; oculist to Pennsylvania Institution for the Deaf and Dumb; ophthalmologist to Home for training in speech of Deaf Children before they became of school age; ophthalmologist to the Southern Home for Destitute Children.
