Notes for George L. SELLERS
George L. Sellers, 85, of Hatfield Twp., died Aug. 18, 2008, at Dock Terrace Nursing Home. He was married for 64 years to the late Dorothy M. Sellers, who died in June, 2007.
Born in Lansdale, he was a son of the late Wardell T. and Elva H. Sellers. He graduated from the former Lansdale High School, Class of 1942. Shortly after graduation, he was inducted into the U.S. Army to serve under Gen. Patton in the 58th armored infantry battalion in France and Germany.
Following World War II, he became an apprentice electrician with IBEW Local Union No. 380, with whom he spent his career as an electrician and electrical supervisor, working for a variety of electrical construction contractors.
While raising his family, he was a member of the Jaycees, Lions Club and Toastmasters International. He loved dancing with his wife, Dorothy. Teaching part time in the electrical union apprenticeship program took up his spare time, prior to retirement. After retiring in 1986, he and his wife spent several years sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and later toured the United States in their motor home.
He is survived by three sons, Daniel G. and his wife, Charlotte, of Franconia Twp., Brian T. and his wife, Brenda, of Hatfield Twp., and Robert C. and his wife, Linda, of Franconia Twp.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Schultz, formerly of Hatfield and now of Coatesville; and a sister-in-law, Helen Gallew of Lansdale.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Sellers; a brother, Daniel W. Sellers, formerly of Lansdale; and a sister, Loraine Bachurski, formerly of Chalfont.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, Aug. 25 between 7 and 9 PM at the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A service and military honors will be held Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 11 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
