Deceased Name: Conway (Tack) Hillman Melcher
Conway (Tack) Hillman Melcher, 77, died Sunday, November 30, at Carolina Meadows Health Center.
He was born in Montclair, New Jersey where he lived until he married in 1949. Tack graduated with honors from Yale University in 1942 and earned a Masters Degree in Engineering from NYU in 1948. He retired as Director of Engineering from ACF Industries in St. Charles, MO in 1982.
Surviving are his wife, Nan, of Carolina Meadows; two daughters, Wendy Reed of Denver, CO., and Jennifer Melcher of St. Louis, MO.; a son, Matthew Melcher of Dallas, TX.; and a brother, Samuel Melcher of South Hero, VT.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Friends may make memorial contributions to Charles House, 109 Hillcrest St., Carrboro, NC 37510.
Arrangements are by Cape Fear Crematory.
