ANNA SCOTT FARNUM "NAN"
80, of Bryn Mawr, died after a brief illness at Bryn Mawr Hospital, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Nan was the daughter of Henry Whipple Farnum, Jr. and Edith Sellers. She spent her formative years with her family in Penn Valley. She attended the Agnes Irwin School, then moved on to Miss Porter's School in Farmington CT, graduating in 1954. After Farmington she came back to Bryn Mawr and entered Bryn Mawr College, and graduated in 1958 with an AB degree in History of Art.
After college she entered the business world as a securities analyst with DeHaven & Townsend, Crouter & Bodine, covering companies in the Philadelphia area. She served as a member of the Bryn Mawr College Alumnae investment committee. She left the firm in 1969 and married Charles R. Wood of Blue Bell.
Nan is survived by her husband and 2 children, Sarah Wood Torrey of Chevy Chase MD, and Hannah Davis Wick of Boston MA. She is also survived by 2 stepdaughters, Margaret Fleming of Chestnut Hill and Elizabeth Isles of Chappaqua NY. Grandchildren are Charlotte Torrey, Edward Torrey, Charles Wick, and Phoebe Wick. Step-grandchildren are Stuart Fleming, William Fleming, Nicholas Isles and Carolyn Leistensnider. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Whipple Farnum III.
There will be a Memorial Service at 2 P.M., Saturday, October 21, at the Church of the Redeemer, Pennswood Road, in Bryn Mawr PA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Agnes Irwin School, Rosemont PA 19010.
