Howard G. Balderston, 66, a farmer and butcher, died Oct. 2 at Buckingham Valley Nursing Home.
Mr. Balderston was born in Dolington, Pa., and lived in Newtown all his life.
He was a partner in Balderston Bros., a slaughterhouse, meat processor and retail market in Newtown, for 34 years. He was also a partner in the former Delaware Valley Lockers, a meat store.
He was a member of Grand Consolidated, a society originally formed in 1819 to insure against horse thieves and now a fellowship organization. He was a member of the Newtown Reliance Co., a company of the Grand Consolidated, for 42 years, and its president for the last 14 years.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association, and of the Upper Makefield Business and Professional Association.
He was chairman of the board of the Agway Council for the last three years.
Mr. Balderston is survived by his wife, Jeannette Updike Balderston; three daughters, Janet U. Balderston, Helen T. Balderston and Dr. Virginia M. Balderston, and two brothers.
A funeral was held Oct. 6 at the Charles F. Swartz Funeral Home in Newtown. Burial was in Makefield Friends Cemetery.
