Hope (Randolph) Hacker


Laconia———Memorial service for Mrs. Hope (Randolph) Hacker, 93, formally of 23 Bois Drive, will be held Saturday, May 25, 2002 at The Federated Church of Center Sandwich, NH at 1:30 PM. Rev. Mark Henderson, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Mrs. Hacker died peacefully at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Monday, January 21, 2002. She was the widow of William P. Hacker who died in 1977.

Mrs. Hacker was born March 2, 1908 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Evan and Hope (Carson) Randolph, Jr.

In 1928, she married William P. Hacker, and they lived in Suburban Philadelphia until 1941 when they moved to a farm in Sandwich, NH where they lived until 1961. Both Mr. & Mrs. Hacker were eagerly active in the community. Mr. Hacker organized the Sandwich Fair for several years where Mrs. Hacker would offer over eighty separate items from the farm.

Mrs. Hacker started “the smallest Red Cross Chapter in the Country” and during World War II, she arranged the first blood drive at the Hoyt House on Main Street in Sandwich. She was recently honored for a lifetime of service to the Red Cross.

Mrs. Hacker was a member of the Federated Church of Center Sandwich, NH, as well as a member of the Church’s Women’s Guild. She was a past president of the Women’s Club in Sandwich and also a Board Member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen.

Although she and her husband had no children of their own, each year she would receive many Mother’s Day cards from her “Children” of all ages. Mrs. Hacker is survived by her sister, Rachel Randolph Doucette, of Jackson, NH, many God-children, nephews, nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Evan Randolph III, Hampton C. Randolph, Sr. and David S. Randolph.
