Notes for Edith LANE
Edith (Lane) Verlinden (first wife of John Verlinden) was the daughter of Edward Lane Sr., a carriage manufacturer in Philadelphia. She was the sister of Edward Morris Lane, findagrave Memorial No. 66504486, who married Catharine Harding/Hardin Memorial No. 80226773; Joel Lane Memorial No. 80219635 who married Rebecca M. Pennell; Davis Morton Lane Memorial No. 80024564 who married Caroline Dixie; and John Lane. Edith was the fifth child and last to be born. Source: A History of Delaware County Pennsylvania And Its People Vol. Three, page 824. (Records have proved that not all written in this book on the Lane family is correct. Such as Caroline Dixie Lane was married to Davis Morton Lane not Edward Lane. Also twins that were still born were born to John's first wife Edith (Lane) Verlenden and not the second wife Rebecca as the record on this memorial page shows.)
All of Edith's four brothers were involved in Carriage making in Philadelphia. Edward, Davis Morton and Joel each had a separate business after 31 January 1850 with their sons. Newspaper article telling of the disolution of Edward Lane senior's Carriage business. Many in family held U. S. Patents on Carriage building.
Rehoboth Methodist Church Records of Philadelphia lists the marriage (with their spellings) of John Verlinden and Edyth Lane on 4 April 1847. Source: Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania on-line records of this church.
