Notes for William TALLMAN

Ref: T00000114
William Tallman of Amity was born in 1720. He married Ann Lincoln (11127414) previously mentioned. Her father was the great great grandfather of Abraham Lincoln the President. To William and Ann Were born 11 children. Patience, Benjamin, Mary, Sarah, Thomas, Mary, Thomas, William, Ann, Hannah, and Ann. Evidently the trait of passing on a dead child's name was a Lincoln one.
William was a soldier in the Revoluntionary War (handwritten note in the Tallman Family History denies this stating that Benjamin Tallman, son of William was the soldier who served in the Revolutionary War.) died in 1791 and is buried 10 miles south of Lancaster, Ohio on the old Tallman homestead now owned by Chester Peters and just off the Maisville Pike.
(In the late 1980s the farm was owned by the widow of Chester Peters. Directions to the farm are as follows: From Lancaster, Ohio take Route 22 west to State Route 674 called Winchester Service Road, turn right (north) , cross State Route 188 - go about 1/2 mile to the first road on the left. Turn left. The Peters house is the first house on the left. The cemetery, known as The William Tallman Cemetery is on the hill in back of the house. This was formerly the south end of the Tallman Farm and the farm was said to contain about 1000 acres. The farm bordered State Route 674 for about 2 mile beginning at the Peters farm. In 1849 the Tallmans sold 263 acres to Absolom Peters).
