Notes for Allan Gilpin Jr. DARLINGTON
DARLINGTON, ALLAN GILPIN, JR. 84 - of Brigantine, passed away suddenly on Friday February 26, 2010. Allan was born in West Chester Pa. He was unable to serve in the military during WWII. To help in the war effort he was employed by Wythe Lab's in the manufacture of Penicillin that was sent overseas to the troops. He was most recently employed as a wholesale distributor for Sanitary Supply Co in Pleasantville until his retirement. Allan was inducted to the Brigantine Municipal Alliance Hall of Fame. He was honored for his 50 years of service on Alcohol and Drug Prevention Activities. Allan was member of the Community Presbyterian Church. It was once said " Reverend Scotland ran the front of church and Allan ran the back" He was a gentle man who would help anyone, especially those in need. Allan is survived by his son Allan G. Darlington. His beloved wife Earlene (nee Bagby) and his son David predecease him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Allan's Life Celebration and Memorial Service Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm at Keates-Plum Funeral Home, 3112 Brigantine Ave Brigantine. Memorial Service will follow at 8pm at the funeral home. Interment is private.
