Notes for Donald Edward WEAVER

Donald Edward Weaver of West Chester Donald Edward Weaver, 92, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Exton Senior Living. For 65 years he was the husband of Hazelyn ‘Lyn’ Myer Weaver, who passed away in 2012. Born in 1924, he was the son of H. Ralph and Grace Hickman Weaver of West Chester. He was preceded in death by his brother, H. William Weaver and is survived by his sister, Catherine Weaver Wit of Arlington Heights, Illinois. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 and trained pilots during WWII. In 1950 he was graduated from Drexel University with a degree in mechanical engineering and was hired by DuPont as a specialty engineer until his retirement in 1985. He and his wife were members of First Presbyterian Church of West Chester for nearly 50 years. He served the church as an elder, a trustee and a long-time member of the chancel choir. For many years he was a member of the Forty Niners Chorus of West Chester and their Barbershop Quartet. He and Lyn were active in square dancing groups, duplicate bridge clubs and West Chester Golf & Country Club. They both volunteered at the Chester County Hospital for many years. He is also survived by his three children, Donna Weaver Mountz and her husband, Douglas of Elverson, Lester “Skip” Weaver and wife, Kim of Glenmoore, and Pamela Weaver Ring and her husband, Spencer of West Chester. There are 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, 130 W. Miner Street, West Chester, PA 19382, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private in Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
