Notes for Curtis Grubb HUSSEY
Curtis Grubb HUSSEY b. 1802, was by 1840 the first multi-millionaire in Pittsburgh. Right behind his home in old Allegheny City was his Home for the Friendless. A gas station now sits on the lot where his house sat, across the 9th street bridge from downtown Pittsburgh.
A supermarket has recently replaced the Home for the Friendless. The
Allegheny Commons park across the street is still there and a swimming pool
is directly across from where his house stood.
