DELAWARE COUNTY REPUBLICAN
Accident
FATAL ACCIDENT - On Saturday evening last, during the violent storm which was raging at the time, MARIS WADDLE, of Middletown, was killed at Rockdale, near the store of William Brown, by the upsetting of his wagon. The deceased had been to market in this Borough, and left here about three o'clock in company with his brother-in-law, intending to supply his customers at Rockdale and other places, on his way home. While passing the steep hill near Mr. Brownstore, owing to the darkness of the night, the horses got out of the road, and were precipitated down an embankment, some ten feet, carrying with them the wagon which fell upon Mr. Waddle, and caused his death. The brother-in-law, frightened and bewildered, made his way to the residence of Mr. Waddle, a mile and a half distant and informed his family of the accident. Mrs. W., accompanied by a neighbor or two, repaired to the spot, and found her husband a corpse. The deceased was much respected by the people of the neighborhood in which he resided, and was esteemed by those in this Borough, who had dealt with him for many years, as an upright man. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his untimely end.
