Notes for Samuel Franklin PANCOAST

S. FRANKLIN PANCOAST, 84, a Delaware County builder who was active in Springfield civic affairs, died Sunday at the Bryn Mawr Terrace Convalescent Center. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Delaware County.
Mr. Pancoast operated a residential and commercial construction business, S.F. Pancoast Inc., in Springfield for more than 35 years, until he retired in 1981. The business is now run by his son in West Chester.
Among residential developments Mr. Pancoast's company constructed were Beatty Hills in Springfield, Markham Hills in Concordville, Newtown Woods in Newtown Square and Radnorshire in Radnor.
Mr. Pancoast served on the board of directors of the Springfield Federal Savings & Loan Association, as a member of the township's parks board and as a township building inspector.
His wife of 61 years, Catharine E. McShea Pancoast, died in May.
Survivors: his son, S. Franklin Jr.; daughters, Jeanette Kern, Louise Panczner and Helen Little; 28 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
Services: viewing, 7 to 9 p.m. today, Robert L. D'Anjolell Memorial Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall; Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. tomorrow, St. Kevin's Roman Catholic Church, Sproul Road, Springfield; interment, SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township.
