Notes for Joseph Sloan Sr. BONSALL

Joseph S. Bonsall Sr., 75, of One Veterans Drive, Spring City, Chester County, died Saturday, Jan. 27, in Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville, Chester County. He was the husband of Lillie M. (Collins) Bonsall. They were married 54 years last April.

He was an electrician for TastyCake Co., Philadelphia, for many years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Leroy and Eleanor (Longstreth) Bonsall.

He was a member of Church of the Brethren.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and receiving the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals.

Survivors: Wife; daughter, Nancy of Cherry Hill, N.J.; son, Joseph Jr. of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Military services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Arrangements, David J. Boyko Funeral Home, Macungie.

Joseph Sloan Bonsall, Sr. 76 died today January 27, 2001. He was a native of Philadelphia, PA. He married Lillie Maude Collins on April 2, 1946. He was the subject-GI Joe and his wife was Lillie in a book written by their son Joey Bonsall Jr., GI Joe and Lillie as a tribute to his parents. Joe was born July 31, 1925 to Roy and Eleanor Bonsall who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife and two children Joseph Sloan Bonsall Jr. and Nancy Bonsall; and two grandchildren.

A full Military burial will be in Arlington National cemetery on January 31. (bio by Bobbi Cecil)
