Notes for Thomas JANNEY

Thomas Janney was a celebrated Friends' minister and companion of William Penn. He settled with his family in Middletown Township, Bucks County, Pennsyulvania and was a member of the first Friends' Meeting established in Bucks County. In 1684 he ws chosen one of council of the Colony of Pennsylvania, and was returned in 1685 and 1685. In 1686 he assumed the position of surveyor of Bucks County. In 1695 he returned to England to speak to the Friends Meeting there. Almost two years later, he died of an illness in the house where he had been born.
