Notes for Roland Kenneth SCHAFER

SCHAFER, ROLAND K. "BUCK" 80 - of Wildwood Crest, founder of Buck's Electrical Service in 1957, succumbed to Mesothelioma cancer in his home surrounded by his loving family on September 28th, 2011. Buck graduated from Wildwood High School in 1949 where he excelled in football, track & field. After graduating, he proudly served our country in the US Navy and was on active duty during the Korean War. During his military service he obtained skills that lead him into a successful, life-long profession as an electrical contractor. In 1957, he ventured into his first entrepreneur business, Buck's Electrical Service, which later expanded to Buck's and Sons Electrical. Buck's ambition lead him into other local business endeavors such as Waterways Motel, Buckaroo Burgers, Lighting Dimensions, Cresse Courts and Ala Moana Motel. He loved sports, especially hunting, fishing and watching his two favorite teams, Phillies and Eagles. His priority was his family and the importance of keeping a close, strong bond amongst them. He touched many lives and will be profoundly missed. Buck is predeceased by his parents Frank and Mabel Schafer, his brothers, Frank and Ralph and his sister Mabel. His surviving siblings are his brother, Walter (Bud) Schafer and sister Evelyn (Dolly) Bradshaw. He is survived by his caring, devoted wife Elizabeth (Beth), his adoring children Maryann Sibbert ( Anthony), Susan Walker (Doug), Robert Schafer (Elena), Michael Schafer (Tracy), his grandchildren Jennifer Kakoyannis (Robert Morgan), Janine Kakoyannis, Dana Cosentino, Robert Schafer, Jr., Arielle and Haleigh Schafer and one great grandson, Alexander Morgan. He is also survived by his step sons Robert Shaffer (Jennifer) and Michael Shaffer and his step grandchildren Michael, Madison, Mira, Caitlyn, Corrin and LeeAnn Shaffer. He also left behind many caring nieces, nephews and cousins.
