Mae was a school teacher. After Otto, Sr., died in 1902 she and her sons moved to Searchlight, NV, where she taught in an old wooden schoolhouse. While in Searchlight she met and married Ned Barclay, who was a mine overseer. They moved to Africa where he managed a diamond mine. Their daughter, Mulaika, was born in the Belgian Congo 1920. Mulaika married in 1940 to Albert Corbin.
She died in 1966.
